Working with Children & Childhood Traumas

childhood traumaFrom 0 -to 2 years old babies and infants are in permanent hypnosis, their brains operate at a slow wave response level and are receptive to sounds, smells, what they see and what they feel all as experience.

Messages get buried directly into their subconscious minds as references of life. If there are soothing tones the body will respond with nice chemicals such as encephalines and endorphines if they experience anger or physical action which causes trauma then chemicals such as cortizol and adrenaline flood the body, speed up heart rate and an association will be made.

There have been many studies to support this over the years.

From 2 to 6 years old, the sub conscious belief system looks to reinforce the messages by similar experiences. We can build low self esteem at this age or a view that the world is not a safe place. This can play out at a young age or as the child grows into adulthood.

Hypnosis is useful to change these beliefs at the core level, create a sense of control and well being. Hypnotherapy is a very natural state that all human beings experience, in life. It is completely safe and can be used to change habits and behaviours that should have been outgrown earlier in development. However the brain may see these behaviours as a way of reducing anxieties which is paramount for survival to the brain.

As children brains’ (their reference libraries) are only small, hypnosis is a quick and easy way to change these unwanted behaviours.

Hypnosis taps directly into the imagination and helps to change unwanted patterns of behaviour. It can be used with children of any age, but before treatment a full assessment will be carried out to ensure this type of treatment would be affective and is the right approach for the changes required. Children from any age can have hypnosis but this must be undertaken by a Hypnotherapist qualified to work with Children.

It is very successful to reduce anxieties, help with sleep, phobias, childhood trauma such as bullying and unwanted habits.
